Doz. Dr. Ergun
It became clear to me at a very early age that I wanted to become an ophthalmologist. For me, it is a beautiful, exciting and rewarding field.
I have been working with retinal disorders since 1997 and have been able to acquire a great deal of experience through my training at the Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical University of Vienna. Subsequently, I also served as deputy head of the retina outpatient ward before changing over to my present position at Sanatorium Hera Hospital, where I head the retina service. I have also become the deputy head of the ophthalmology department.
I qualified as a university lecturer (Privatdozent, comparable to an associate professor) in 2006 and have published many papers on retinal disorders and therapies in prestigious scientific journals. In addition, I have participated in many clinical studies on new therapeutic approaches and am now working on new projects with pharmacotherapy for retinal disorders.
For me, my own office is the place where I can practice exactly the type of medicine I had always hoped for. Here I would like to take my time, especially to advise patients as thoroughly as possible and subject them to a thorough examination. Here the focus is on people and I attach a great deal of importance to personal care, be it in the form of a “simple” check-up or a complicated treatment. Thanks to my background, I am fluent in English and Turkish and am also quite proficient in French.
